TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
Hello,
any idea if it is possible to flash TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600 with Gargoyle 1.12?
Which firmware file should be used?
Many thanks in advance!

No, there's very few 802.11ax supported routers in OpenWrt, and this has not flowed through to Gargoyle yet.

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
Which newest TP-Link router would be recommended?
Would also TP-Link Archer C80 work as well?

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
I also would like to know which TP-Link router is the latest supported by Gargoyle firmware.
Hopefully a dual-band extended range Wi-Fi router.
Thanks

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
Is there any update regarding newer routers from TP-Link or so, where gargoyle can be installed?
Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
Unfortunately more recent TP-Link routers are using chipsets that OpenWrt (& thus Gargoyle) have more difficulty supporting (particularly Broadcom chipsets).
The only relatively recent TP-Link routers Gargoyle currently supports are the Archer AX23 (v1 & v1.2) and the ER605 v2 (has no WiFi), both of which are ramips targets. The Archer A6 v3 is a somewhat older supported model that is also an ramips target.
Mercusys is a brand that seems related to TP-Link - if this brand is available to you then the MR70X v1 (ramips target) is supported by the most recent beta release and the MR90X v1 (mediatek target) could be supported if someone were to purchase a device and install a test image built on request to confirm satisfactory operation.
I suggest you browse the lists of images available for the most recent beta release to see whether any supported devices might be available to you; you can also browse the lists of devices supported by OpenWrt as well however at this time only devices supported by the OpenWrt 23.05 branch are likely to be supported by Gargoyle in the near future (if not already supported in the current betas). The gl.inet GL-MT6000 (mediatek target) seems popular; there are several other mediatek target devices that also work well (e.g. I have an Asus RT-AX59U and a Netgear WAX206).
Note installing OpenWrt on many recent devices is not a simple matter of flashing an OpenWrt (or Gargoyle) factory image using the OEM firmware upgrade function (requiring disassembly and use of a serial console is not uncommon ) - checking the OpenWrt installation instructions for a device and installing OpenWrt first is a prudent course of action; installing Gargoyle can then be a simple upgrade from OpenWrt using the appropriate sysupgrade image.

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
Many thanks for the detailed feedback. Was very helpful.
I need always to check that the router is also available in Europe and works with Cable Internet Provider.
I see on the link with the new devices for example: RT-AX54
Any idea if it is the same like
ASUS RT-AX5400 AiMesh Dual Band WiFi 6
I see also it is more powerful than TP-Link AX23.
Many thanks again!

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
This model is an ramips target device supported by the OpenWrt 23.05 branch that could be supported by Gargoyle, likewise the RT-AX53U. Both are essentially the same hardware as the TP-Link AX23 (i.e. same SoC, same switch chip, same radio chips), except that the RT-AX53U has a USB port but only 3 LAN ports and the AX23 has less flash and RAM than the Asus models.
Uses a Broadcom chipset and unlikely to be supported by OpenWrt any time soon.

Many thanks
I bought now AX23 V1. Which gargoyle firmware file do you recommend to install on it?

Re: TP-Link Archer AX90, AX6600
You will need to use the current Gargoyle beta images from here (see link at bottom of first post - search for "AX23" within the "ramips" target) - these images have been quite stable in operation on most targets from reports in that beta thread and my own usage. See also the OpenWrt AX23 hardware page as a reference for the initial flash. For the initial flashing via the OEM firmware upgrade function use the squashfs-factory.bin image; for subsequent upgrades use the squashfs-sysupgrade.bin image.
I would recommend using OpenWrt 23.05.3 (linked on the OpenWrt hardware page) for the initial install and then upgrade to Gargoyle, but the current Gargoyle beta squashfs-factory.bin image should also work for the initial installation too - it's just that if you run into problems with the initial install there is a much larger group of people to provide assistance on the OpenWrt forums than here. That said, the initial flash to OpenWrt/Gargoyle on this model seems to normally be straightforward. I would not upgrade the original TP-Link firmware before installing OpenWrt/Gargoyle - sometimes factory firmware upgrades make third party flashes more difficult.
