Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x BETA - 2024-03-11 - Based on OpenWrt 23.05
RE: SW/HW Flow Offload Thanks! That is exactly what we were looking for. We're not actively using QoS or BW monitoring so offloading may be an option, but we'll probably try with the standard setup and use offloading only if we have throughput or heat issues. One more question relating to this beta:...

First, thanks to all the maintainers for the 1.14 and now 1.15 releases. We're looking to upgrade the TP-WR4300 routers we've used with Gargoyle for years to something with more FLASH/RAM, and these updates support a number of newer routers which are still available for purchase. Re: Best Image for TP-LINK WDR4300
I have a couple of TP-LINK WDR4300s hardware version 1.6 running the gargoyle_1.6.1-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-*.bin release (replace the '*' with 'factory' when installing over the OEM firmware, or 'sysupgrade' when upgrading from a previous release of Gargoyle). This version works well ...

Re: 1.6.0 or 1.6.1 working on TP-Link 4300?
I upgraded in two steps, i.e. 1.5.11 -> 1.6.0 -> 1.6.1, but in both cases I preserved the current configuration using the checkbox on the upgrade page.
I also made a copy of my configuration prior to upgrading just to be safe.

Re: 1.6.0 or 1.6.1 working on TP-Link 4300?
I have a TP-Link 4300 h/w version 1.6 with the following Gargoyle version history: 1.5.11: installed for ~6 months; 2.4Ghz range issue otherwise ok 1.6.0 with OpenWRT upgrade: Ispyisail build, installed for ~1 month, no issues (fixed 2.4Ghz range issue as per OpenWRT changelog) 1.6.1: installed for ...

Re: WDR4300 v1.7
I have run both Gargoyle 1.5.11 and Ispyisail's 15-Mar-2014 1.6.0+ release on a TL-WDR4300 hardware version 1.6. The 1.5.11 release was stable but had limited 2.4Ghz range due to an OpenWRT bug. The 1.6.0+ release seems stable so far and fixes the 2.4Ghz range issue. It's disappointing to hear that ...

Re: Gargoyle-ispy 2014-March-15.7z
I've been running 1.5.11 on a TL-WDR4300 v1.6 for a few months and had no problems except for a very short 2.4Ghz range. Looking through the OpenWRT changelog I noticed the following: change 39408 AA: ar71xx: fix bad RX sensitivity on newer TL-WDR4300 boards Based on this I did a test install of Isp...

Blocking Youtube.com but not other Google sites
I have Gargoyle 1.5.11 set up with a "default deny" rule and then a whitelist that allows parent devices all day and kid devices between certain hours. Since we've had some issues with bandwidth overages related to youtube.com, I'd also like to restrict "kid devices" from accessi...

Re: Restrict a single host to the local network only
Firewall -> Restrictions
create new rule with MAC address of client, timing = all day every day, all network access restricted

Re: Successfully flashed a router? Tell Us!
Just flashed Gargoyle 1.5.11 onto a new TL-Link TL-WDR4300 hardware version 1.6. Installation was easy - I downloaded the "factory" binary image, shortened the filename to "gargoyle.bin" (not sure if this was required but saw a few posts that suggested it), and then used the fact...
