Linksys wrt1900ac no longer accessible

Post by alexT »

Hello,
I installed gargoyle_1.12.0-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys-wrt1200ac-squashfs-factory.img
on Linksys wrt1900ac v1 using the firmare upgrade tool in the manufacturer's OS.
Now going to 192.168.1.1 doesn't work. PC is connected with Ethernet cable to the port #1
I've restarted PC and reset the router (pressing 10 secs on reset button) multiple times.
What else can I do to access the router ?

Thank you in advance.

Did you really install the 1200 firmware on a 1900? If yes, of course you are having a problem.
These devices have a dual firmware, so you can flip the power three times to go back to the other partition which hopefully still contains the working factory image.
If not you will need to tftp or serial recover the device.

Yes, I installed 1200 firmware over 1900 and confirmed once again how careless I can be!
Power flipping worked, got Linksys OS back and then installed the correct Gargoyle.

Thank you so MUCH for your help and the quick reply.

For whoever having reset issue: I realized I have flip the power on the final time quickly (after on and offing 3 times) or it won't load the alternate firmware.

Glad it worked for you. They're a very forgiving router for making mistakes on. :)
